How about that?

Nolan wins! Using Uncle D's pole, Nolan brought in the biggest fish to date. We were very excited. It wasn't all that big, but we just had to try to cook him up. With the help of our neighbor Mark (another northerner from Minnesota) we tried to fillet this little catfish up. After about 10 minutes one of our good old southern neighbors came down to help out. I mean "help out" by telling us this was one of them poison catfish. So.......

Notice Nolan trying to feel the fish.....

And Dang It! The darn thing poked me. Or should I say stabbed. Our neighbor really did say it is poinsonous........so we'll see just how swollen it gets.

And to think.......I thought Walmart night (groceries moved to thursday rather than saturday morning), there wouldn't be anything to post :)

The pool.

This is our semi - (monday-friday) - private pool. Nolan and Amelia are floating and swimming around really well with their life jackets on. We're hoping to get them swimming soon. There is just sooo much water around here, a YMCA class might be well worth it.

Real quick

This was last Friday night (05/23). Storms on the water are.....intense. Lots and lots of lightning. Looking out from the upstairs balcony feels a lot like we're navigating a big cruise ship through a storm.

More beach pics...

Wow, 10 days since our last post. We just sort of reached a point where.....I mean how often to people want to see pictures of the beach and kayaking. Thats pretty much all we've been up to down here. This kids are still having a blast. Memorial weekend was pretty laid back. There were a few more people at the townhouses this w/e but then this afternoon Brooke and the kids had the pool to themselves again. At least tonight we tried out a new beach, at the curved bridge connecting AL to FL. I think it's called Perdido Pass???? Someone help me out here.

This was Brookes first trip out on the Gulf. She was a bit nervous before she went out but within 10 minutes she was riding some good waves.

And she even made it back in.....without flipping once :)

This is pretty much what Nick does. He's like a baby sea turtle crawling around in the sand. He is a bit more experienced now....he's learned that sand and salt water aren't for eating and drinking.

Yep, we're beach bums.

Chris????

All I'm sayin'.....is this is a GREAT place for a photographer to live. This was 1 of 4 photo shoots going on at the beach tonight.

DAY AT THE BEACH

Few pics from our Saturday at Johnson Beach. Talk about a blast :)

Thursday, May 15, 2008

Here is a picture of our townhouse. We came really really close to getting the pink house on the right. Amelia was a little disapointed.

And of course.......gotta show off the Florida license plates :) This is at Johnson Beach, which is down on the east end of Perdido Key. This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen and someday I'm sure we'll have a bunch of good pictures to post. Just couldn't do it on a cloudy day.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I picked up some fresh Grouper on the way home from our boat trip. I was planning on cooking Brooke dinner.....but she had to step in and well......finish for me. We also had some fresh shrimp. And of course, plenty of beans and rice :)

Pringle's adventure!!!!!

I know, lots of pics, but WHAT A DAY! Nolan and I got to take a boat trip with our neighbors, the Pringle's. OK, on the map, yellow=our house, orange=holiday harbor, blue=shipwreck, and red=Fort Mckrey. We met the Pringle's at Holiday Harbor and rode in the boat up to Fort Mckrey.
This picture is at the entrance to the Fort which was just a bunch of really really dark tunnels. We had a flashlight, but man was I ready to get out of there.

This pic is basically on top of the Fort, just to the right of the Red circle, looking out at Pensacola Pass which leads out to the Gulf.

Canon, Nolan and Tanner. Nolan has had a blast playing on the beach and then today on the boat with the kids. They aught to be back around for some weekends over the summer, but they live over in Mobile, AL.

The next picture I had to include just cause it was such an amazing view. It was taken on top of a dune, which is an island just across from the Fort (north of).

And finally to round out the trip we made a stop at a shipwreck. Most likely this is from Ivan, Dennis, or Katrina.....take your pick. It was still cool to stop and look around. BTW, Nolan took this picture :) We also got to see plenty of Jelly Fish and even a couple dolphins. Anyway, thanks for reading. I'll try to keep them shorter in the future.

Target????

And to think....Friday nights used to be for trips to Target. Tonight we loaded the whole family into the kayaks and did a bit of paddling. Brooke had Nolan and Amelia, and I got the Nickle. It was great. We'll have to get one of our neighbors to take a pic of that someday.

Crab Hunters

Nolan and Amelia are having a blast. They've been having fun hunting hermit crabs on the beach..........IN OUR FRONT YARD!!!!! They've tracked down a few good size sand crabs and seen a few (small) jellyfish floating along the beach. Crikey......... so far no gators :)

Can I go too?

Nick is loving it down here. He is trying to keep up with Brooke, Nolan and Amelia crawling along the beach. Occasionaly he likes to stop along the beach for dog-like drink out of the bay. OK......this is where I should have a witty joke of some sort to really keep you coming back. But, I don't. Help, I feel so..........

We've got Kayaks!

So yep, we picked up a couple kayaks last night. I guess this is how you blog.....you type, and assume your pictures will be enough to keep people coming back :)
I'm just sayin'....the water is great to look at, but having the kayaks really makes it fun. We were up at the crack of dawn paddling around Perdido Bay.
