N

You should see the other guy! Nolan ran into some high up BP guys.... And couldn't resist getting in a few punches.

They knocked out yet another of Nolan's teeth, but Nolan got them back pretty good.

Sea Turtle Rescue

This Green Sea Turtle washed up on the beach at our place today.  It was in rough shape.  He was pretty lethargic but did move its head above the water to breathe.

Dale contacted wildlife management and was told to keep his/her head out of the water because they need air to breathe.

We were also told to keep him cool.  Dale placed the turtle under an umbrella and kept pouring bay water over the towel.

A Biologist from Big Lagoon State Park came over to take the turtle to a Gulfarium in Panama City.  There was a spill of jet fuel in the intracoastal waterway yesterday.  This Sea Turtle was probably affected by that spill.  The Biologist said the turtle will recover and be kept in an aquarium.

Probably a one in a life time experience to help an endangered species!

He's a Sailor!

Tis the season for sailing :-)  SOOOOOOOO great to have some warm weather & warm water to enjoy living in FL.  Nolan is fearless at the helm of the "cool dudes."

Working on uploading a video.....but he had a great solo trip.  I was out on the kayak for support, but he sailed her well.  We've had the whole family out a couple times this week and Cora's done great.  We've yet to see any dolphins....but we know there are some out there.  We HAVE seen the stingrays though.  There are a bunch that have decided to come back this year.  They'll make good bait for the crab traps.

She's a reader!

Amelia finished up her reading lessons today....100 lessons! She is reading like a champ :-)

Nolan had a big milestone last week when he finished his first grade math practice/testing. He's done over 6500 math problems since we started using IXL in January.

I'm very proud of them both for working so hard. And especially proud to have married one heck of a great teacher!

Birthday Fun!

Amelia LOVES animals these days.  Whether it's hanging out with the zoo animals or playing pretend puppy at home (her name is Bibsy), she is always playing with animals.  So, in our effort to avoid a REAL kitten or puppy.....lets go to the zoo for your birthday Amelia!
Nolan (sort of) loving his little sis.
Chuckie is the Gulf Coast Zoo's 700lb alligator.  I picked Nick up to look at him and when I asked what would happen if he fell in, he ever so calmly said "he'd eat me".  In the moment it was sorta cute....not at all a Micheal Jackson - baby on the balcony kind of thing.

Now that....is how to show your Sister some love! Come on Nolan ;-)
Whatever this thing is....a goat, deer or maybe a geer, it was the Hasting family favorite.
And new to the zoo.....it's a Cora Bear!

Sort of looks like we lost a bet on the hockey game, but this family pic was from last Friday.  A couple of our Canadian friends have been down for the month of Feb and brought the Team Canada shirts for the kids and some mittens for B.  It's been fun seeing them again, in between this frustratingly cold weather we've had.  They're off to Panama City Beach tomorrow......here's hoping you find some warmer weather over there :-)  We look forward to seeing you all in PCB.
